St. Louis & Chicago Stroke Relief to Sabin’s Medical Financial Burdens
The Fundraising committees from St.L (Alton) & Chicago surpassed any and all expectations to themselves, me, and those that were able to attend. Each event was a huge success with great turnouts of wonderful people! I can not thank each of you enough that participated in organizing such memorable events!
With the bills continuing to pile up on top of each other. The stress was becoming too much at times! What is going to happen to my future once I get healthy & adjust back into normalcy of supporting myself? These events have helped tremendously on reducing that stress and letting me relax a bit. Focus on other areas- new doctors, treatments, payment plans, future non profit organization, & photography! Thank You all once Again!

Well, we had our first meeting and it went GREAT!!! We think we have tentatively decided on Sept. 19th, having a golf tournament tentatively at Cloverleaf Golf Course (we got a great price, thanks Kelley Pohlman), but we are checking other golf courses just to be sure. We are trying to decide whether to have the gathering (cover charge, basket raffles, 50-50’s, etc) at the golf course with tents, or to rent a hall. A family fun time gathering may take place during the golf tournament, at the same site. This would allow those not golfing and those without a babysitter for the later venue, to come and take part. Our goal this week is to get the venue/date set in stone. This week we will also begin dividing up the list of local businesses to solicit for donations. We will be meeting next Tuesday, July 14th .

I had an idea for a fund rasier for you. Dave (my huisband) runs in alot of 5k and 10k, and they are usually for some sort of charity event.. like heart problems and cancer and other diseases. so I was thinking you could have on for your Sabins Stroke of Genuis.

***Fundraiser Committee***
Well we had our 2nd meeting tonight and it went really well! Ideas are definitely flowing! We will have a golf tournament at Cloverleaf Golf Course at 1:00 on Sept 19th w/ an after party. The price points are all set, and we will release that info once we have the tournament flyer, form letter, and phone script (just a guide for contacting potential donors) all typed up. That is our goal for this week, as well as getting the entertainment and alcohol covered (thanks jeff!) We would LOVE sports tickets, entertainment tickets, getaway trips (i.e. ozarks condo), or any other kind of HOOK UP that you have. These will be a huge draw for silent auctions or raffles. Also if anyone has any catering contacts (low key, like bbq type stuff since we will be outdoors) please let us know. The next meeting will be July 21st/Tues. night at 7pm. More info to come! Keep posting on this page with all insight you have towards this fundraiser. All help will be greatly appreciated.

July 21st Fundraiser Committee Meeting:
Well, we’re off and running!!! In Tuesday’s meeting we discussed food options, and prizes that are beginning to roll in (many thanks to everyone!) We still could use some big ticket items for silent auction, so if anyone can land these, let us know!!! Don’t get me wrong though, if you have ANYTHING to donate, speak up! We are getting a great donation from Hansen’s in Jerseyville for the meat for the tournament, also Scott Monohan has offerred to DJ the party for FREE!!! We will meet again next WEDNESDAY, 7pm, tentatively at Johnson’s. Food will probably be decided on by next weeks meetings, our main focus is gathering prizes!

I just learned of what happened. My family and I hope your recovery is going well. Hang in there and stay strong!!! You can count on a team for the golf tourney representing Piasa Hills subdivision in Godfrey, IL (our old stomping grounds growing up). Actually, I was just at my mom’s this past weekend and the woods behind her house with trails (that we spent countless hours on building) that we used to “get rad in” on our bmx bikes seems so small now…..anyway, just brought back some memories. See ya on 9/19/09. Oh, and Kelly, I may be able to get some gift certificates from Lottawatta Creek Southern Grill in Fairview Heights, IL (my brother-in-law is the owner). I will mail them to you if that comes through.

Zoë and I were SO excited to see a fundraiser on 9/26, since we are actually going to be in Vegas that weekend … then lo and behold, it’s in Chicago. Crud.
